Baseball Recap: Oak Grove Beats Hayden for Their Ninth Straight Win

Oak Grove had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Hayden on Friday. The Oak Grove Tigers never let the Hayden Wildcats get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Colton Praytor's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dalton Troncalli was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyler Pollastrini, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Troncalli wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Oak Grove lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Oak Grove's ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 8.89 hits in those games compared to only 5.2 in the others. As for Hayden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Oak Grove will square off against Sumiton Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hayden, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hayden Wildcats challenge Springville Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
