Baseball Recap: Harrison County Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

While Harrison County's win against Walton-Verona wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Thorobreds/Fillies skirted past the Bearcats 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Thorobreds/Fillies in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won five in a row.

Sawyer Craycraft tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Jashon Lewis was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Boston Reynolds, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Harrison County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walton-Verona only posted a batting average of .136.

Harrison County's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Walton-Verona, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

Coming up, Harrison County will be playing at home against Madison Central at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Thorobreds/Fillies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Walton-Verona, they will be taking part in a tournament against Franklin County at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
