Softball Recap: Cathedral's Undefeated Season over After 24 Games

Cathedral was the 3-0 winner over Shelbyville when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fighting Irish fell just short of the Golden Bears by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Angie Valentine was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jordyn Hazelwood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cathedral fell to 23-1. As for Shelbyville, they pushed their record up to 17-11 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home.

Cathedral has already played their next match, a 6-4 loss against Logansport on the 23rd. As for Shelbyville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against Center Grove on the 24th.
