Basketball Recap: Braeden Wilbourn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cedar Ridge over Apex

Cedar Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 81-55 to the Apex Cougars.

Cedar Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braeden Wilbourn, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Jacobson, who posted 13 points.

Apex's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stephen Beatty led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Zaelyn White was another key player, going 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Cedar Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Apex, they moved to 2-8 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Cedar Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 79-32 loss against East Chapel Hill on the 28th. As for Apex, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-53 defeat against Southeast Alamance on the 28th.
