Volleyball Recap: Orcutt Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Santa Maria last Thursday, Orcutt Academy came back down to earth. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Cabrillo Conquistadores on Tuesday. The Spartans have struggled against the Conquistadores recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Orcutt Academy still got an impressive performance from Larissa Lorencz, who had 16 digs and seven blocks. Lorencz has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 12 times she's played.

Cabrillo was led to victory by Taylor Savella and Jazlene Brady. Savella had three digs and three aces, while Brady had 14 assists and two aces.

Orcutt Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Cabrillo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-16-1 record this season.

Orcutt Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Pioneer Valley on the 23rd. As for Cabrillo, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Lompoc on the 23rd.
