Baseball Recap: Gretna Comes Up Short

If Gretna was feeling good fresh off their 22-12 takedown of Chatham last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell 6-2 to the Altavista Colonels on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Colonels: they've now lost five in a row.

Gretna saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Gretna's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Altavista, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

While Gretna had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
