Baseball Recap: Portland Has No Trouble Against Montgomery Central

Portland lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Montgomery Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Panthers put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 9-3 victory on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Indians back in March, they had to take a 13-11 loss.

Austin Holmes was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Portland is undefeated when Holmes posts two or more runs, but 11-19 otherwise.

The win made it two in a row for Portland and bumps their season record up to 14-19. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Montgomery Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-20.

As of now, neither Portland nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
