Basketball Recap: Statesboro Comes Up Short

Statesboro lost against Glynn Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Statesboro Blue Devils lost to the Glynn Academy Terrors at home by a 50-35 margin. The Blue Devils' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Statesboro lost, don't look at Azziza Flowers. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Alyssa Martin was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds for Glynn Academy. That's the most points Martin has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kyra L Page, who scored four points and four steals.

Statesboro's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Glynn Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Statesboro will host South Effingham at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Statesboro is facing South Effingham at the right time seeing as South Effingham is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Glynn Academy, they will challenge Effingham County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
