Basketball Recap: Genoa-Kingston Comes Up Short

Genoa-Kingston lost against Rock Falls back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Genoa-Kingston Cogs took a 75-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rock Falls Rockets. While losing is never fun, the Cogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Rockets are ranked 187th).

Genoa-Kingston has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Rock Falls, their record now sits at 11-5.

Genoa-Kingston will face off against Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Genoa-Kingston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Lutheran likes a good challenge. As for Rock Falls, they will square off against Oregon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
