Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only San Juan Hills walked away with it. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 win over the Downey Vikings. The victory was nothing new for the Stallions as they're now sitting on five straight.

San Juan Hills got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Timmy Herr out in front who threw for 305 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. That's the most passing yards Herr has posted since back in September. 90 of Herr's passing yards were hauled in by Luke Frith, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

San Juan Hills' defense stepped up as well, laying out Oscar Rios three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jacob Mullen, Noah Howell, and Cooper Chila, who each picked up one sack apiece. Mullen was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Downey still got an impressive performance from Rios, who threw for 175 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 38 yards and one score.

San Juan Hills' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Downey, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.

Coming up, San Juan Hills will take on Los Alamitos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Downey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
