Baseball Game Preview: Greenville Spartans vs. Cairo-Durham Mustangs

The Greenville Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Cairo-Durham Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Greenville came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Germantown by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cairo-Durham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 21-7 to Pine Plains.

Logan Walz was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Young, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Greenville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Cairo-Durham, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Greenville couldn't quite finish off Cairo-Durham in their previous meeting back in April and fell 8-6. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
