Softball Game Preview: Paul VI Panthers vs. Flint Hill Huskies

The Paul VI Panthers will square off against the Flint Hill Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Paul VI is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Bishop O'Connell on Tuesday. They lost 10-1 to the Knights. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Potomac School hit Flint Hill with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-2.

Flint Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cate Stanley, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was Stanley's first of the season.

Flint Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Paul VI, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-11.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Paul VI hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Flint Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
