Basketball Recap: Fort Payne Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Fort Payne won the last time they faced Jacksonville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Fort Payne Wildcats took down the Jacksonville Golden Eagles 60-46.

Jacksonville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alexis Phillips, who posted 13 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. Phillips has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAsia Prothro, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Fort Payne is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Jacksonville, they moved to 10-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Fort Payne Wildcats face off against the Pell City Panthers at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Pell City: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Fort Payne has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Jacksonville, they will head out to square off against Alexandria at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
