Basketball Game Preview: Douglas County Tigers vs. New Manchester Jaguar

Douglas County and New Manchester are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Douglas County Tigers will challenge the New Manchester Jaguar at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Douglas County is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-60 heartbreaker at the hands of South Paulding. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Spartans are ranked 114th).

Meanwhile, New Manchester posted their closest win since November 21, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged East Paulding out 69-66. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguar.

New Manchester has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Douglas County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Douglas County came out on top in a nail-biter against New Manchester when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 40-37. Does Douglas County have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Manchester turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
