Baseball Recap: Springville Beats Spanish Fork for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Springville extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 10-11 in the process. They put the hurt on the Spanish Fork Dons with a sharp 7-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 on Friday.

Logan Sitterud tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Kasen Torres was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As for Spanish Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since April 8th.

On Spanish Fork's side, Jesse Harrison was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits Harrison has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Spanish Fork saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Boston Duvall, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Springville is set to square off against their familiar foe Timpview at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Red Devils' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Thunderbirds have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Spanish Fork will take on rival Orem at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
