Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Aubrey walked away with it. They never let the Hillsboro Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Chaparrals, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Mya Cherry's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aubrey got a big performance out of Judah Van Rijn, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Van Rijn has posted since back in February. Carmen Alexander was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Aubrey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsboro only posted an OBP of .111.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Aubrey, bringing their record up to 27-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Hillsboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-11.
As of now, neither Aubrey nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
