Basketball Recap: Austin Takes a Loss

Austin has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. Their2024 ended with a 67-53 defeat against the Huntsville Panthers on Thursday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-40 back in November.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Huntsville, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Austin and Huntsville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Austin (ranked seventh) will meet Decatur (ranked 181st) at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Huntsville will challenge Thompson at 1:30 p.m. on Friday up 60 places (2 vs. 62).
