Basketball Recap: Genesee Christian Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

Genesee Christian won against Everest Collegiate on Friday with 43 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Genesee Christian Soldiers beat the Notre Dame Prep Fighting Irish by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 43-33. Given the Soldiers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame Prep still got an impressive performance from Kaylyn Sowers, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Sowers has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

Genesee Christian pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points over those games. As for Notre Dame Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Genesee Christian has already played their next match (against Corunna), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Notre Dame Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-21 win against Holly on the 10th.
