Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cherokee Trail). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Smoky Hill Buffaloes 41-0. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three matches by 28 points or more so far this season.

Brian Cusack was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards. Another player making a difference was Tyson Smith, who threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns.

Cherokee Trail didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Logan Posey and Mateo Garreffa. Garreffa is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last eight games he's played.

Cherokee Trail's record now sits at 4-6. As for Smoky Hill, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Cherokee Trail's road trip will continue as they head out to face Castle View at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Castle View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.1 points per game this season. Smoky Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
