Basketball Game Preview: Junction City Bluejays vs. Derby Panthers

The Junction City Bluejays will challenge the Derby Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Junction City: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Derby has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road also dating back to last season.

Junction City will head into Friday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by Shawnee Mission North 59-30. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Meanwhile, Derby was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Valley Center 67-36. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 31 points or more this season.

Derby's win came from a few key players Junction City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Macayla Askew, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Aysia Fox was another key player, putting up seven points.

Derby's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Junction City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
