Recap: Father Capodanno Grunts vs. St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors
The Father Capodanno Grunts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 39-32 to St. Thomas More Academy. Father Capodanno has not had much luck with St. Thomas More Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Father Capodanno lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Luke Moon, who scored nine points.
St. Thomas More Academy found their leader in underclassman Joseph De Guzman, who scored 15 points along with four steals. De Guzman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Baxley, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Father Capodanno dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Father Capodanno will head out on the road to challenge Star Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Star Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for St. Thomas More Academy, St. Thomas More Academy and Neuse Christian Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Neuse Christian Academy is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
