Baseball Recap: Arnold Starts Season with Win at Home

Arnold took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They blew past the Holmes County Blue Devils 8-2. The Marlins haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jackson Ross looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Mason Laymon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Austin Hendrix was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Arnold was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holmes County only posted a batting average of .148.

Holmes County's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Arnold has already played their next match, a 9-1 win against Mosley on the 15th. As for Holmes County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Choctawhatchee on the 14th.
