Football Recap: Pickens Academy Comes Up Short

Pickens Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Holt Ironmen, falling 39-7. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 49-0 to the Ironmen when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Pickens Academy lost, don't look at Griffin Hudson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards and one score.

Pickens Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Holt, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pickens Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Belgreen at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 11.6 points per game this season, so the Pirates' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Holt, they will square off against Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
