The Sandusky Wolves will take on the Bad Axe Hatchets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sandusky will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Sandusky let Alpena stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Saturday but luckily Sandusky prevailed anyway. The Wolves won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 7-6. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by just one run.

Nathaniel Tovar was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sandusky let Hunter Bush and Blake Bowerman run wild. Bush went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Bowerman went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Bowerman has posted over his last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Jack Betts, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bad Axe). They blew past Vassar 13-5 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hatchets with their most commanding win of the season.
Like Sandusky, Bad Axe also got a great game from a two-way player: Jackson Wolschlager. Throwing, Wolschlager pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Mason Hurley didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bad Axe is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-9 otherwise. At the plate, Wolschlager went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Hurley went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Wolschlager is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Smith, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Drostan Stapleton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bad Axe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.
Sandusky's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Bad Axe, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sandusky hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Bad Axe struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sandusky beat Bad Axe 5-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Hatchets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
