Avon Park is still undefeated  this season after their  contest against Lake Placid  on Tuesday, but Lake Placid came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Avon Park Red Devils narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  team sidled past the Lake Placid Dragons  3-1. The three-run effort marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring  matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
 Eric Harrison made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   six  hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He also put up a  stolen base, which was his first of the season.
 Harrison wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Maddox Pollitt, who  went 3-for-4 with one  double.  Jace King also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
Avon Park pushed their record up to 6-0 with the  win, which was their third straight  on the road. As for Lake Placid,  they are  on  a  nine-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Park will take on DeSoto County at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Avon Park's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5  runs per game  this season, so DeSoto County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake Placid, they will face off against Okeechobee at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
