Softball Game Preview: Cicero-North Syracuse Northstars vs. Yorktown Patriots

The Cicero-North Syracuse Northstars will face off against the Yorktown Patriots at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Cicero-North Syracuse had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Camden with a sharp 19-12 win last Thursday.

Lily Hotaling looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Coyle was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Hibbard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

11 must be Yorktown's lucky number: they beat Wakefield School with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Patriots beat the Fighting Owls by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
