Basketball Recap: Bellwood-Antis Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Martin Fatzinger and Connor Mayes

Bellwood-Antis was the 69-42 winner over Somerset when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils fell 52-44 to the Somerset Eagles on Friday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Connor Mayes and Martin Fatzinger certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mayes posted 14 points, while Fatzinger had nine points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Fatzinger a new career-high.

Somerset found their leader in sophomore Aiden Roby, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 24 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Heiple, who put up nine points and six steals.

Bellwood-Antis' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Somerset, with the win, they broke their 21-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-1.

Bellwood-Antis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-46 defeat against Huntingdon on the 9th. As for Somerset, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-51 loss against Forest Hills on the 9th.
