The Apex Cougars will face off against the Apex Friendship Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Apex is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Apex's offense. They came up short against Willow Spring on Wednesday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Apex saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah Kendall, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Kendall has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Apex Friendship). They put the hurt on Green Hope with a sharp 15-3 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.
Riley Weaver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Cheyenne Christman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Lily DaVia was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Apex Friendship was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Apex Friendship pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Apex, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Apex's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. Apex has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Apex Friendship, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Apex continue to outrun the ball? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
