Soccer Recap: Galax Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Galax ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They never let the Graham G-Men get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Galax were the better team in the second half.

The win was the fourth in a row for Galax, bringing their record up to 9-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four matches. As for Graham, they moved to 8-2-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Galax and Graham should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Maroon Tide will face off against Fort Chiswell at 7:15 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (30 vs. 129). Meanwhile, Graham (ranked 36th) will meet Richlands (ranked 256th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
