Basketball Recap: Wilkes Central Eagles vs. Bandys Trojans
Wilkes Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Bandys Trojans 71-27. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2015.
Bandys' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Bell led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. Bell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Vaughan, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 18 points, to go along with seven boards and five assists.
Wilkes Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Bandys, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilkes Central will face off against West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilkes Central is facing West Iredell at the right time seeing as West Iredell is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bandys, they will challenge South Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bandys knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully South Caldwell likes a good challenge.
