Baseball Game Preview: Chiefland Indians vs. Dixie County Bears

Chiefland and Dixie County are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Chiefland Indians will welcome the Dixie County Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dixie County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Chiefland, who comes in off a win.

While Chiefland's victory against Fort White wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Chiefland skirted past Fort White 4-2.

Chiefland got a great performance from Hunter Boyd as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Boyd also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chiefland is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trey Meeks, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Chiefland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort White struck out six times.

Meanwhile, Dixie County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trenton. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly four runs.

Dixie County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kage Norton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jaheim Taylor also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Chiefland now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Dixie County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Chiefland couldn't quite finish off Dixie County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can Chiefland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
