Softball Recap: Matawan Regional Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Matawan Regional had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Freehold Township Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-1 on April 2nd.

Emma Kriegstein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elyssa Jamandron was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Elizabeth Cammarata also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Matawan Regional's record is now 5-3. As for Freehold Township, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Matawan Regional will square off against Wall Township at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Freehold Township, they will challenge Raritan at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
