Preview: Somerset Prep vs. Western Wildcats
Somerset Prep will head out on the road to square off against the Western Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Prep has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
Somerset Prep suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 84-52 loss at the hands of Saint Andrew's. While losing is never fun, Somerset Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 583rd, while Saint Andrew's is ranked 96th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Western gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Boyd Anderson as Western made off with a 79-59 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Western's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stefan Frisby led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. That's the first time this season that Frisby pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Fowles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Somerset Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Western, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Somerset Prep was taken down by Western 88-40 in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. Can Somerset Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
