Basketball Game Preview: Premont Cowboys vs. Santa Maria Cougars

Premont hasn't had much luck against Santa Maria recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Premont Cowboys are taking a road trip to challenge the Santa Maria Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Premont is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 73-16 defeat at the hands of Freer.

Meanwhile, Santa Maria lost to Agua Dulce on the road by a 51-33 margin on Tuesday. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Premont's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Santa Maria, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Premont took a serious blow against Santa Maria when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 95-16. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Premont was down 58-5.
