Softball Recap: Aspen Skiers vs. Basalt Longhorns        
        
		
             Aspen was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their 24th straight  loss  dating back to last season. They came up short against  the Basalt Longhorns, falling  28-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Skiers of the  21-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in September.
  Ainsley Loeb made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-2 with a  home run. Another player making a difference was  Graceann Viola, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-1.
 Even though they lost, Aspen  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with five  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've posted  since  the start of last season.
 Aspen's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Basalt, their victory  ended  a  nine-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 6-13.
 Aspen will play host again  on Saturday to welcome Non Varsity Opponent, where first pitch is scheduled  at 1:00  p.m. Non Varsity Opponent knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Aspen likes a good challenge. As for Basalt, they will be staying on the road  on Tuesday to face off against Rifle at 5:00  p.m. Rifle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8  runs per game  this season.
