Softball Game Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Zapata Hawks

The Wimberley Texans will venture away from home to square off against the Zapata Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wimberley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Wimberley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Cuero 9-8.

Charlotte Woodward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Julia Leonard was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Emorie Gahan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Wimberley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Zapata beat Rockport-Fulton 9-5 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Wimberley's record is now 15-16. As for Zapata, their record now sits at 15-17-1.
