Football Game Preview: Holy Cross Knights vs. Xavier Knights

Holy Cross will face off against Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Cross will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Holy Cross was able to grind out a solid win over Christ the King, taking the game 16-6.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Xavier). They came out on top against The Pingry School by a score of 29-22 on Saturday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 77th in New York, while the Big Blue are ranked 245th in New Jersey) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

One reason for the win was Xavier's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Salvatore Vitale led the group effort, picking up 2.5 of those sacks all by himself. Robert Milacci also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12.

Xavier's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Holy Cross, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
