Preview: Southern Columbia Area Tigers vs. Westinghouse Bulldogs
The Southern Columbia Area Tigers will square off against the Westinghouse Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southern Columbia Area comes in on seven and Westinghouse on 13.
Southern Columbia Area extended their postseason success on Friday against Dunmore. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bucks 39-7 on the road. Southern Columbia Area might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Garrett Garcia continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 189 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Southern Columbia Area also got a significant boost from Louden Murphy, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
Meanwhile, Westinghouse stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Beaver Falls 28-8. Given Westinghouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Beaver Falls is ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southern Columbia Area's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.33 points. As for Westinghouse, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.
Southern Columbia Area strolled past Westinghouse in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 37-22. Will Southern Columbia Area repeat their success, or does Westinghouse have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
