Softball Recap: Fort Mill Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Fort Mill had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Northwestern Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-5 back in March.

Haley Rogers was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Rogers wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Hildebrand, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave Hildebrand a new career-high. Brooke Rosario was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Fort Mill now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Northwestern, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Fort Mill will challenge Rock Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.83 runs per game on average), something the Yellow Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northwestern, they will face off against South Pointe at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Stallions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.65 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
