Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Grimsley

Grimsley hadn't done well against Northwest Guilford recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Grimsley Whirlies were the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over the Northwest Guilford Vikings. Six seems to be a good number for the Whirlies as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Noah Christensen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Grimsley let Levi Ponder and Sebastian Rodriguez run wild. Ponder scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Max Snyder also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Grimsley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwest Guilford only posted a batting average of .000.

Grimsley pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest Guilford, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-4.

Grimsley will have a chance to go back-to-back against Northwest Guilford: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
