Baseball Recap: Surry Central Extends Winning Streak to Four

It was a Battle of the Birds when Surry Central took on East Henderson on Saturday. Everything went the Surry Central Golden Eagles' way against the East Henderson Eagles as the Surry Central Golden Eagles made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Golden Eagles have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Wilmoth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Will Pardue was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ian Hooker, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Surry Central, bringing their record for this year to 8-1. As for East Henderson, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Surry Central will head out on the road to square off against Calvary Day School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Surry Central's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Calvary Day School's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Henderson, they will be playing at home against Polk County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
