Recap: Lakeview Bulldogs vs. McKinley Red Dragons

The Lakeview Bulldogs suffered their closest loss yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of McKinley by a score of 49-46. That's two games in a row now that Lakeview has lost by exactly three points.

Despite the defeat, Lakeview saw an underclassman step up: Annabelle Humphrey scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Izzy Haines, who scored nine points.

McKinley can attribute much of their success to Katie Heinselman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Heinselman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Ava Ferri was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Lakeview and nudges their season record down to 4-11. As for McKinley, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeview will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Mathews at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Mathews is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for McKinley, they will head out on the road to take on Hubbard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
