Basketball Recap: Lafayette County Finds Playoff Glory Versus Emerson

Lafayette County had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over the Emerson Pirates on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Atesa Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9-for-15 en route to 20 points and seven boards. Her afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleyah Antwine, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks.

Lafayette County's win bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Emerson, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-7.
