Football Recap: Montour Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Blackhawk last Friday, Montour came back down to earth. The Spartans came up short against the New Castle Hurricanes on Friday, falling 34-14. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hurricanes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Brandon Bennett threw for 174 yards and one touchdown. Zander Stern was his top target, picking up 114 receiving yards. On the ground, Caden Halajcio rushed for 54 yards.

New Castle found their leader in freshman Marino Graham, who rushed for 149 yards and four scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 161 yards and one TD. Graham really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.

Montour's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for New Castle, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montour will take on Ambridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will be up against the Bridgers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for New Castle, they will face off against West Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
