Football Recap: Steilacoom Sentinels vs. Prosser Mustangs

Steilacoom was the 48-15 winner over Prosser when they last played one another back in November of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Steilacoom Sentinels took a hard 51-35 fall against the Prosser Mustangs on Friday. Despite 80 more yards than the Mustangs, the Sentinels couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Steilacoom still got an impressive performance from Drew Macdonald, who threw for 405 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Steilacoom is 4-1 when Macdonald posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Prosser's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Rainer, who threw for 220 yards and five touchdowns while completing 87.1% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Rainer is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for five or more in the last three games he's played. Landon Bailey was Rainer's top target, picking up 83 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Steilacoom and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Prosser, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
