Basketball Recap: Menomonee Falls Comes Up Short

If Menomonee Falls was feeling good fresh off their 83-43 takedown of Milwaukee Lutheran last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Phoenix took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nicolet Knights on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Phoenix of the 45-41 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2021.

Despite the loss, Menomonee Falls still got an impressive performance from Kate Janssen, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Janssen is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 18 every time she's taken the court this season. Sarah Fischer also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Menomonee Falls' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Nicolet, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Menomonee Falls and Nicolet will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Phoenix will take on rival Brookfield Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Nicolet is set to face off against their familiar foe Whitefish Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
