Basketball Game Preview: Landstown Eagles vs. George Washington Eagles

The Landstown Eagles will head out on the road to take on the George Washington Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Landstown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Green Run, who was ranked 11th at the time (Landstown was ranked 13th). Landstown fell just short of Green Run by a score of 59-57 on Tuesday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Landstown saw an underclassman step up: freshman Damien Robinson went 8 for 13 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. The game was Robinson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaevion Cleveland, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, George Washington beat Halifax County 76-70 on Tuesday.

George Washington's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Landstown, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.
