Basketball Recap: Somonauk/Leland Victorious

Somonauk/Leland lost to Reed-Custer back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Somonauk/Leland Bobcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-38 victory over the Reed-Custer Comets.

Several Comets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Wallace, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Gwen Stewart, who had nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Somonauk/Leland's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Reed-Custer, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somonauk/Leland will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Amboy at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Reed-Custer, they will head out to take on Peotone at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
