Leander has gone a perfect 4-0 against Lockhart recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. We've got a battle between Lions coming up. Leander's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Lockhart's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Leander managed to slip by Rouse the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Leander came up short against Rouse on Friday, falling 8-0.
Scarlett Geurin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Lockhart came into Friday's match having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedar Park on Friday, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since February 14th.
Lilly Villarreal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Villarreal was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marissa Sosa, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Presli Moebes also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Lockhart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Lockhart's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Leander, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Lockhart's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Leander has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. It's a different story for Lockhart, though, as they've only averaged .364. Will they be able to contain Leander's hitters?
