Basketball Game Preview: Castlewood Warriors vs. Colman-Egan C-E Hawks

Castlewood is 7-2 against Colman-Egan since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Castlewood Warriors will host the Colman-Egan C-E Hawks at 7:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Castlewood turned things around against Oldham-Ramona/R on Thursday. They really took it to the Rutland for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-29 victory. The Warriors pushed the score to 50-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rutland had little chance of recovering from.

Castlewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Ruml led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cydni Kudrna, who posted seven points in addition to nine assists and five boards.

Castlewood was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Colman-Egan had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They breezed by the Elks to the tune of 58-14. Given the C-E Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Elks are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colman-Egan is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.8 points. As for Castlewood, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7.
